Voilà, Villa!

As everyday commences, I drink coffee and chat with my Momma. She asked me today as she does everyday, "What are you going to do today?" Then I thought to myself... I'll go to the Getty Villa! I had no plans and really wanted to check it out.

First, I cute-ified. I went with the wetsuit shirt (it zips down the back) and a pom pom on my head!

Then I hit the road. It was a stressful trip to Los Angeles. I'm not sure when a trip to Los Angeles is not stressful...? Anyone know? No. Okay. So I made it to the Villa after getting lost in a residential area. Oh, and the line to park was a 90 degree angle. It was like riding a meerkat up a wall. Issues.

Okay, but here are photos!

Architectureeeee!

How cool that they wore perfume back in the day!?

Hello, jewelry!

I need one of these for sure...

How ironic that I'm a princess and here is a gold wreath....

I got in trouble for taking pictures of the pieces in this collection. Grr. Although they are from Greek collections, I totally was feeling total Catholic/Vatican/Rome-ness. So beautiful.

I went to the garden!

Grapes!?

Such a pretty herb garden.

Poet as Orpheus with Two Sirens.

I loved this place. There was so much art work! I definitely liked the mythological area because I think Greek mythology is immensely interesting. Such beautiful architecture as well! After I browsed around, I checked out Amoeba Records, then had some delicious chicken curry for supper! Who says Monday's have to suck!?

Carnivorous Chow

Last night I went to the...

In Huntington Beach!

Everyone was either busy or out of town, so I went by myself.

"Yes, that's correct. I'd like the entire Boston Butt.  Mmhmm. It's just me. No, I'm not kidding. "

I got my wristband and moseyed on in to the event. There weren't many people so I could easily pop into the booths to get samples.

Oooooh the bark was immensely delightful on these ribs!

Then for some tri-tip...

Smoked Mac-n-Cheese... Bonjour!

Hawaiian tri-tip and sticky rice! I put some Hawaiian hot sauce on the rice and it was so tasty!

And for dessert, sweet and savory ice cream! I don't know what made it savory... maybe it was a bacon glaze? It was imp'hog'sible to figure out, but that's what made it fun!
They had a cow that kids were milking...

Volleyball fun at Huntington Beach!

Well... After checking out the beach a little bit, I decided to head home. It also just so happens that Sprinkles Cupcakes is on the way home... Sooooo... I made a pit stop. As a farewell to Sprinkles for being so kind to me this summer!

I went with a chocolate cookie (they were out of brownies.. how? I don't know) with red velvet ice cream.

I sat my happy little butt outside and enjoyed this pretty thing! A lovely ending to the day.

U.S. Surf Open

Everybody's gone surfinnnn... Surfin USA!

Yesterday was a fun day. I went to the U.S. Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach! I have been looking forward to this day since last summer. I left California right before the open last year and I was so bummed. This year I got to go! I had a splendid time.

People were lined up along the pier to get a close look at the surfers catching their waves

Go Yellow!

Go Blue!

BMX... So cool! I would cringe every time they wouldn't land a trick... and major cringe to one of the guys who came down so wrong and hard that he bent his back wheel.

Who knew skaters could be sooooo cute!? This was fun to watch also.

This was a long-boarding competition. It was based on style. The big thing is "toes on the nose" which is when all of your toes hang over the nose of the surf board! There was also a rule that you couldn't have a leash... so every time a surfer would fall off, he'd have to scurry and swim to his board!

I had such a great time. There was tons of people watching (I've never seen so many butt cheeks in my life) and cool events to watch. I have a new respect for these types of sports- especially surfing. If the waves aren't coming as quickly or as strong as you'd like, you pretty much just have to make it happen. Congrats to everyone who competed yesterday! Sunday marks the end of the competitions so we'll see who made it!
